BE WITH ME

Spent an overcast weekend attending the Annual San Diego Asian Film Festival.

After slogging through a plethora of somewhat mediocre films; ranging from the Megabuster/Ultra slick imports from Japan and Korea; Shinobi,
A BitterSweet Life to the somewhat amaturish oversentimental documentary Chinese Restaurants: Latin Passion, we were lucky enough to stumble across a gem of a little film called

Be with Me

The story of several lovelorn couples, including a 61 year old, deaf and blind woman, named Theresa Chan , was a pure revelation. The depth of emotions captured so poignantly, with just a minimal of dialugue, through this film, truely reaffirms my long held suspicion about the redemptive powers of great art.
